The five causes we see most often: tree roots in older sewer lines, grease and food in kitchen drains, hair and soap in bathroom drains, sand and silt in stormwater drains, and broken sections of pipe. A CCTV camera tells us which one before we choose how to clear it.
Common signs are slow-draining sinks or showers, gurgling sounds when water goes down, sewer smells, water pooling around floor wastes, or more than one drain backing up at once. If only one fixture is slow, the problem is local to that drain. If every drain in the house is slow, the main line is more likely the cause.
A plunger or a hardware-shop snake can shift soft blockages in a single fixture. They won’t clear tree roots, broken pipe, or anything in the main sewer. They also won’t tell you why the drain blocked, which is why DIY-cleared drains usually block again within weeks. If the same drain blocks twice, it’s time for a CCTV diagnosis.
Most blocked drains are cleared without digging. We work through an existing access point like a yard gully or inspection opening. The camera tells us where the blockage is. If a section of pipe is collapsed or root-damaged, we’ll show you the footage and quote the repair before we touch a shovel.
It depends on what the camera finds. A straightforward jet through an accessible point sits at the lower end. A tree-root clean-out, a CCTV inspection plus jet, or a section of pipe replacement sits higher. We quote in writing before any work starts. If we find more once we’re in, we stop and you decide.
